Caddo Parish offers free rabies shots, microchipping for pets | News

SHREVEPORT, La. — The Caddo Parish Department of Animal Services offered free rabies vaccinations and microchipping to parish residents’ pets in an effort to protect the local pet population.

The free, drive-thru clinic was held Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Summer Grove Baptist Church, 8924 Jewella Ave.

Rabies vaccinations were available for dogs, cats and ferrets on a first-come, first-served basis. The shots were one-year rabies vaccinations and limited to pets owned by Caddo Parish residents.

Educational materials about low-cost spay and neuter services, mosquito prevention and heartworm prevention were also distributed during the event.
