Simona Negretto, Vue head of conferences & events UK & Ireland, explains how the company’s events team packaged up a conference setting for pet food brand Lily’s Kitchen:
With organisers and agencies mindful of increasing costs, value for money is a driving factor when deciding where to host a conference, launch or AGM.
Many venues have decent in-house audio-visual equipment and of course will have a catering option, but what can be offered over and above without incurring additional budget?
We’ve researched this over the last year at Vue and have road-tested our newly created delegate packages. Premium pet food brand Lily’s Kitchen was one of the first to try out the Platinum package at one of our flagship venues on Leicester Square.
Having traditionally used hotels for their annual company conference, the client pleasantly surprised by everything the cinema setting had to offer, as well as the package inclusions.
A hundred delegates arrived at 8.30am for a 9 o’clock start, greeted with orange juice, tea, coffee and pastries. On entering the screen room, the Lily’s Kitchen logo welcomed them in glorious technicolour on the big screen. Taking their seats, adorned with popcorn, each delegate enjoyed the comfortable chairs, complete with cup holders, ready for the presentations.

Departmental and personal recognition ‘Golden Tin’ awards were given out for categories including Unsung Hero/ Team of the Year / Newcomer of the Year / Spirit of our Values / Individual Growth / BCorp Champion / Idea of the Year and Founders Award stated on each one.
Following the conference everyone was treated to a hearty lunch from The Caterers who surprised the client by creating cat and dog shaped shortbreads to the delight of guests.
Lyn praised event manager Ash, saying: “He was brilliant to work with, and made everything seamless.We loved being in the cinema, it was wonderfully comfortable with the recliner seating, and everyone could see and hear perfectly. I’ve had some great comments post event, and the biscuits were an enchanting addition.”
At every Vue venue signage is also included in the foyer and outside the screen rooms as part of the packages. There is no additional cost, clients can supply a logo, moving image or even create a poster to the theme of the event taking place.

Vue Entertainment (Vue UK & Ireland) has 850 screens throughout the UK and Ireland. The events arm of cinema chain Vue Entertainment recently launched tiered DDR rates across its 93 sites in the United Kingdom and Ireland. Prices for a minimum of 100 people start from just £45 for ½ a day at a Silver venue to £105 for a full day at a Platinum venue.
