November is National Adopt a Senior Pet Month. The Cat House (TCH) has many deserving senior cats just waiting to meet their perfect match. But what exactly qualifies as “senior” for a cat? Typically, a cat is considered a senior once it reaches age 10.
If you are considering adopting a cat, here are a few reasons why giving a senior cat a loving home could be one of the best decisions you make:
Purr-sonality
Everybody loves kittens – they are undeniably amazing. Their personalities are a bit of a mystery, though. Senior cats come with well-established personalities, so you know exactly what you are getting. This makes senior cats ideal candidates for anyone looking for a cat that matches their own personality and lifestyle.
They come pre-trained
One of the remarkable advantages of adopting a senior cat is that they often come pre-trained. These seasoned felines have already mastered the art of using the litter box and grooming themselves. Moreover, they have typically outgrown some of the mischievous behaviors commonly associated with younger cats, such as incessant scratching and playful nips. Despite their relaxed nature, they still revel in quality playtime and affectionate moments with their human companions.

A rewarding experience
Senior cats still have a lot of love to give, and they make excellent companions. Let’s face it – no amount of time with a beloved pet is ever going to be enough. Giving an older cat a chance at a great life in a loving home really is its own reward.
