Kissing Booth star Joey King found her dog Fable while volunteering in an animal shelter in Romania earlier this year.

The pooch was the runt of her litter and was found in the woods where her siblings “tried to kill her off”.

Just four months on from bringing her home, the 24-year-old has been amazed at the transformation Fable has made after being adopted.

“I came across Fable, and she was just so sad and so sweet… She was so terrified of dogs when I first met her and just terrified of everything, but was so sweet and loving,” King told People.

“And now watching, her arc has just been so incredible.”

The actress, who also has a 10-year-old dog Jesse, with fiancé Steven Piet, describes adopting a rescue dog as “rewarding” because these pets provide so much “unconditional love”.

She is currently raising awareness about pet adoption and working on a Clear the Shelters campaign to help rescue animals get better photos, which is expected to make them more likely to be adopted.
