Terrifying footage has revealed the moment a deadly eastern brown snake lunged at a family’s pet cat in their backyard in Sydney’s west.
The cat can be seen in the video posted to TikTok sniffing the still snake which is lying in the corner of a garden in Glenmore Park.

Suddenly, the snake lunges towards the cat.
“Nala, Nala, Nala!” the owners are heard screaming in panic.
The camera’s view falls to the ground as the owners desperately call for their pet to get out of the snake’s way.
Just seconds later a meow can be heard as the cat walks back into the shot at the man’s feet, and appears unharmed.
The snake is then seen slithering along the edge of a garden bed before disappearing under a hedge.
The incredible video quickly went viral after it was posted on Monday and has since gained more than 170,000 views.
Hundreds of shocked TikTok users flocked to the video’s comments to share their disbelief.
“OMG I screamed too, lucky cat they strike fast,” one person said.
“Mum of three cats … I felt that scream in my soul,” another said.
“Oh my god that’s my worst nightmare with my dog,” a third added.
Replying to the hundreds of comments, Nala’s owner said it was “very lucky” she didn’t get bitten.
“She came when we called and the snake just rose up as a warning and didn’t strike,” Rachel Glover said.
“I think she wasn’t giving aggressive vibes so snake just gave her a warning. We are shaken but OK.”
Rachel went on to explain that a snake catcher came to their house, however, after an “extensive search” they couldn’t locate the snake.
“The snake catcher said it looks close to 1.8m which is the biggest one they had caught,” she said.
“Not going outside EVER!” she added.
Rachel said she will look into putting up some netting or mesh under their fence to prevent it getting into their yard again, and added her neighbours should keep their pets inside.
