The View got one more guest than it bargained for on this morning’s episode. While interviewing Chris Evans — who joined the show remotely from his home in Boston — The View was also treated to a special appearance from his beloved dog, Dodger.
As co-host Sara Haines asked Evans about rumors that he may be reprising his role as Captain America alongside other original Avengers for a new Marvel project, the actor started to answer, but was interrupted by a furry friend who had been hiding out of the frame.
Evans began, “You know, I always see those reports too, and it’s news to me!” Before he could get in a few more words, he apologized to the Hot Topics panel, pivoting his camera to show the (very cute) interruption sitting beside him: his rescue dog.
“Sorry, this guy really wants some attention,”
he said, revealing Dodger smiling below. Evans added, “He is trying so hard!”
After giving Dodger a little love, Evans resumed answering Haines’ question, telling her, “No one has spoken to me about it, and look, I would never say never, but I really, I’m very protective of it. It’s a very precious role to me, so it would have to be just right.”
That wasn’t the last we’d see of Dodger, though. The persistent puppy hopped up on Evans’ desk, perching his paws on the side of the table as Evans turned the camera so everyone could witness his antics.
“Can you see this?” he asked, before gently reprimanding his pet. “Buddy…” he said to him with a smile and a shake of his head.
Ana Navarro offered her own solution, telling Evans, “Chris, you need to grab Dodger, put him on your lap and we need to do a duel interview.”
As any View fan knows, Navarro is a devoted dog mom to ChaCha, so she knows what she’s talking about. Unfortunately, Evans didn’t take her advice, but he did explain that Dodger only gets needy when he’s on a video interview.
“It’s only when I start Zooms!” he said. “He doesn’t care! Until I start talking to the computer screen, then he needs to be the center of attention.”
The View airs weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
