Before Chrissy Teigen and John Legend became parents to Luna, Miles, Esti, and Wren, they were doting pet parents to an adorable English Bulldog named Puddy that they adopted in 2008. Fast forward to 2024 and the Teigen-Legend household is now filled with four dogs — Penny, Pearl, Pebbles, and Petey. As lifelong dog lovers, Teigen and Legend have always been invested in the health of their beloved pets and it was their love of dogs that sparked the idea for the couple’s newest business venture: Kismet.
Kismet is a pet lifestyle brand founded by Teigen and Legend that offers high-quality, vet-approved dog food and snacks, as well as some goodies for dogs’ human companions. When speaking to SheKnows about the launch of Kismet, Legend revealed this project has been in the works for years. “We’ve been working on it for a long time,” Legend told SheKnows. “We care so much about our pets and the pet parent community that we really wanted to put this out into the world.”

Kismet currently offers two premium dog foods, a Chicken & Barley recipe and a Salmon & Brown Rice recipe that both contain freeze-dried nuggets that pets go crazy for. In addition to the foods, Kismet also offers four different dog treats that are made with the same high-quality ingredients as the food.

In addition to providing quality food for dogs, Teigen and Legend also wanted to bring a bit of fun and a sense of community to the pet parenting world. “We wanted to offer a food that dog owners really could be proud of giving to their dog,” Legend told SheKnows. “We wanted to create something really delicious, first of all, and nutritious and filled with all the things you want in food. We also wanted to build a community around pets and the people who love them.”
Kismet also offers a line of merch for humans that’s unlike most other pet brand merch available today. “We wanted to create something you want to wear regardless of a pet food brand’s logo,” Legend told SheKnows. “We didn’t want to make it too brand-heavy, you know, we don’t have a bunch of, Kismet logos everywhere. We just wanted people to have merch that was really cool and that what they would actually want to wear.”

Kismet may just be getting started, but Teigen and Legend have big plans for the brand. “We’re excited to be online right now,” Legend and Teigen said. “Eventually, we’ll get into retail stores and things like that. One of the things we want to do is build a business and create content that can be helpful, fun, and funny for parents so that we can all find and talk to each other online. And then we want to do things in real life too, like meet up at the dog parks and things like that. We just really want to build a community around pets and pet parents.”
