A family from London has been hit by tragedy just days before Christmas, after a mum was killed in an alleged hit and run while out walking her two dogs.
Marie Theobold, 48, from Hainault, and the two pet dogs, Riley and Honey, died after being hit by a car while out walking in Manford Way, Chigwell on Friday, December 22.
A man has been arrested in connection with the incident.
Officers from the Met Police were called at 5.09pm on Friday, December 22 after a car, believed to be a white Seat Leon, hit Marie and her beloved pets.
Marie's family released a statement on Christmas Eve calling her a 'loving mother, partner, daughter, sister, niece and friend'.
The statement continued: "Marie was an honest, hardworking, selfless woman who would do anything for anyone.
Marie always put others first.
“The dogs Riley and Honey were much loved members of the family.
They adored Marie as she adored them.
May they all rest in perfect peace together.
“The family ask for their privacy to be respected at this time.”
Police say the driver failed to stop at the scene, but was the car was found nearby shortly after the crash.
A man was subsequently arrested in connection with the incident and taken into police custody, before being released on bail.
