Duncansville Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1200 Fourth Ave., Duncansville, will host a Pet Blessing service at 1 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 6, celebrating the bond between people and their beloved animals. All pets are welcome to join their owners for this unique event.
The Rev. Pastor Jean Caudill will officiate the blessing, offering prayers for the health and wellbeing of each animal. In addition to the blessing, the church will be providing hot dogs and popcorn, along with fun activities for kids, making it a day of fellowship and family fun.
In conjunction with the Pet Blessing, the church’s All Creation Pet Pantry will be accepting donations of pet food to help support families in need throughout the local community.
Cat and dog food donations are particularly needed to assist local pet owners. This is an opportunity for attendees and pet lovers to give back by ensuring that no pet goes hungry.
Donations will be accepted at the church during the event.
“We never want a person to have to choose between feeding and caring for a loved pet and medication or food for themselves,” said Outreach Director Marsha Hunter.
“We understand the important role pets play in our community’s mental health, and we want to ensure we’re doing all we can to keep pets and their owners together,” added Mara Eberhardt, Director of the AllCreation Pet Pantry.
“This is just the beginning of reaching out to the local community, not just in Duncansville, but across Blair County. This supports our church’s mission as we continue to serve the communities where we live,” said Church President Derek Detrich.
The pet pantry has provided pet supplies to over 500 local pets, who provide companionship to hundreds of community members,” Detrich said.
The church will continue collecting donations for the All Creation Pet Pantry during the Winterfest Parade on Nov. 24.
