ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) – It’s been more than a month since Agro the dog went missing in Abilene when she and her parents came for a visit from Colorado. Monday night, the couple were elated to announce that their beloved pet has been rescued and will be home soon.
Agro’s story touched the hearts of many throughout the Abilene community and beyond. Abilenians lent their time and effort, driving around in search of the Colorado couple’s red heeler. Her story even found its way to a Lubbock-based pet finder who used special gear for weeks to find her.
In a Facebook post to the 3,000+ members of the Help Find Agro Facebook group, Agro’s mom, Ashley Root ecstatically shared the good news.
“We cannot thank the Abilene community enough for the collective effort it took to make this recovery happen,” Root wrote in the Facebook post. “Thank you to all of you who spent hours of your days and your gas money spotting and looking for our girl. Thank you to those that opened their homes to us and to those that offered donations to help get us to Texas. It really was a collective effort, we are forever grateful!“
Agro’s dad, Travis James will be on his way to pick up their girl. In the meantime, she’s going to be safe with a foster family.
