Convicted dog abuser denied parole in Texas | News

NEW BOSTON, Texas – A Fort Worth man who was convicted of animal cruelty in Bowie County was denied parole last month.

The parole decision was based on the brutality and violence of the offense, posing a continuing threat to public safety, according to the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.

In July of 2022, Jerry Mills was caught on video kicking, beating and throwing a pocket pit bull over a second-floor balcony at the Tex-Inn motel in New Boston, Texas.

The video was posted on social media in July of 2022, and the local police were advised.

Mills was later convicted of a felony offense of animal cruelty to non-livestock animals and sentenced to three years in a Texas prison.

Christina Tutt, a certified cruelty investigator and president of the Texarkana Animal Coalition Team (TACT), said in an update, “Boston is alive and well and is a very loved and pampered pet.”

Greg King Canine Recovery in Texarkana rescued the female named Boston, and TACT and other area animal advocates sought justice for Boston.
