The case against Neil Cummins, of Barratt Way, West Cornforth, County Durham, was heard at Peterlee Magistrates’ Court.
Magistrates were told that, as the keeper of the dog, he fail to comply with notice from Durham County Council to get dog microchipped within 21 days, on or before May 16.

Cummins was served the notice under the Microchipping of Dogs (England) Regulations 2015 on April 21.
Cummins did not attend the hearing and the case was found proved in his absence.
Magistrates fined him ÂŁ220 and ordered him to pay costs of ÂŁ230.
