One Vancouver couple's walk turned into a heartbreaking shock discovery.
Terry Sparrow and his fiancé Krista Brisk were out at Pacific Spirit Park when they stumbled across something you don't expect to find in a public bin: a dog.
“We're in shock .. who would do this to a dog,” Sparrow wrote in a Facebook, sharing photos and clips of the small poodle they found lying among the trash.

“Found this dog in a garbage can up at Camosun Bog.. speechless.”
The comments were flooded with people saddened and outraged over the discovery.
Sparrow happened to find the dog in the bin when he went to spit out his gum.
The couple had recently lost their own dog of eight years, Reggie.
“It just felt like another blessing from our late dog, Reggie,” Sparrow told the outlet Daily Hive in an interview.
“That's the whole reason we were up there. Because we were missing him. And it felt like him pointing us in the right direction to find this dog and save him.”

According to outlets, the dog is believed to be around 10 years old.
In one photo, Sparrow and his partner gave the dog a wash at home, and in another clip they managed to get him to eat some food from a bowl.

In an update the next day, Sparrow said they alerted authorities and filed a police report for the dog, whom they sweetly called Oscar.
After “finding him in such a terrible condition” they then took the dog to see a vet.

It was discovered Oscar had two or three broken ribs, a possible dislocated hip and on top of that, spinal compression.

Lorrie Cole, whom Sparrow said they were working with to make sure the dog was cared for, shared a health update on Oscar to her Facebook a day later.
Cole said the dog may need surgery for his hip and that blood work he had done come back with “some high levels due to trauma”.
“The Police are involved and taking this matter very seriously to find out who did this to him and left him in a garbage can to die for now we are letting his rest and decompress from his horrific experience,” she wrote.
In the most recent update from Cole, she revealed Oscar was “doing wonderful”, sharing a pic of the dog on his road to recovery.
