This is a bittersweet announcement for me … and possibly for you as part of the Pet Pangaea community.
Here’s the bitter: Pet Pangaea will permanently leave the Central Park Square storefront location at 6 p.m. on Feb. 27.
And here’s the sweet:
A new, exciting chapter for Pet Pangaea is around the corner! Our plans are still TOP SECRET, but we’ll let you know what’s happening as it unfolds. However, we don’t want you to be out of your favorite pet foods, treats, or anything else your pet might need while we work on ways to serve you even better.
Join Us For The TOP SECRET Stock Up Sale Through Tuesday, 2/27/24
Keep your pet happy by stocking up on all the goodies your pet wants and needs before the doors close for the last time at Central Park Square. During this event, the more you buy, the more you save!
The TOP SECRET Sale will run on these days and hour
- Saturday, Feb. 24 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Sunday, Feb. 25 noon to 6 p.m.
- Monday, Feb. 26 noon to 6 p.m.
- Tuesday, Feb. 27 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Shop early to get everything you want and need! We do anticipate that we will run out of some items and categories. Also, search those wallets for Pet Pangaea gift cards. Please use them before the closure. And please note that our website sales, product holds, home delivery services are now suspended in order for us to focus on serving you in the store during the TOP SECRET Stock Up Sale.

Continue the Downtown Dogs weekly dog walking group. Beginning in March, the group will meet at Ashley Pond near the stage at 10:30 a.m. on Saturdays for a walk around downtown Los Alamos. Please remember to bring bags to pick up after your pooch and have your dog on a regular leash, no longer than 6 feet.
Provide LIVE food. Don’t want to drive a million miles for crickets or worms for your reptile after Feb. 27? Or for frozen mice or rats for your snake? We don’t want you to have to do that, either. You will still be able to purchase crickets, worms, and frozen mice and rats from us. Beginning in March, stop by the Los Alamos Small Business Center at 190 Central Park Square, Suite 121. You will find us there on Wednesdays from 4-6 p.m. and Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Accept donations for the local non-profit Champions of Youth Ambitions’ pet supplies drive. They are gathering pet supplies for their Pets and Vets project, and the LA and SF animal shelters, through the end of February. Anyone buying treats or toys from Pet Pangaea for the C’YA donation box will get a 15% discount on those items.

Thank you in advance for your support and for your patience with us as we navigate to the end of this chapter in the store’s history. While closing this chapter is bittersweet, but we look forward to our next chapter. Our adopted turtle Yertle reminded me of this fitting sentiment from Dr. Seuss: “Don’t cry because it is over. Smile because it happened.” Indeed. Yertle is a wise turtle.
Our Central Park Square location is filled with wonderful memories. We’ve raised funds for less fortunate pets through Santa Paws. You came to our Pajama Party event, and we all had fun. I have witnessed countless shy adopted dogs blossom with time under your loving care. You, our beloved community of pet parents, have shared true joy with us. And, we have shared sorrows, too, in a pet’s passing.
Thank you for the great honor of serving you and your pets for all these years at Central Park Square. We’re excited for what’s coming next!
While our next chapter remains TOP SECRET, the Stock Up Sale is not! Tell all your pet parent friends to come in and see us before the last day, Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2024. The more the merrier!
