A DC family is mourning the death of their beloved family dog who was brutally kicked so hard it died at a day care center last week.

Bronny was boarding at District Dogs in Navy Yard on February 16 when he was ‘physically struck' by an employee early in the morning, as acknowledged in the company's statement.

According to a DC police incident report, the young dog became ‘too energetic' when the unidentified employee began to feed the canine at around 4am.

After making ‘attempts to calm the dog', the worker admits to striking Bronny with his foot but cannot remember what part of the animal was hit.

The adored pet lost consciousness and had to be taken to a nearby veterinary facility where he was pronounced later dead.

‘The District Dogs family is heartbroken over the incident and extends its sincere condolences to the family of the dog, and we grieve their loss at this profoundly difficult time,' the statement read.

After Bronny's saddening death, heartbroken parents, Christina and Andrew told Fox5 they were ‘mourning' their pet.

‘Bronny brought immeasurable joy to our lives and to the lives of all he touched, and the void left by his absence is profound.

‘We don’t have all of the answers yet, but we appreciate all of the support we have received from the community.

‘We are still mourning the loss of our sweet boy,' said the couple.

They also said they have commissioned an attorney for legal action but did not elaborate.

The District Dogs' employee has yet not been charged or arrested by officials.

The incident has led to further calls for shutdown of the facility, especially after the death of 10 dogs due to a flood at another District Dogs facility on Rhode Island Avenue in Northeast Washington in August 2023.

News of Broody's death comes the same day a 40-year-old Virginia woman was charged with murder after leaving an 11-month-old child and a dog in a hot car, resulting in their deaths.

Kristen Danielle Graham, 40, has been charged with one felony count of murder and is being held without bond at the Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail.

Graham was given responsibility of 11-month-old Myrical Wicker by her 17-year-old mother for two days.

She had been alone in the car for approximately eight-and a half hours.

The child was discovered dead in a black plastic bag in the back of a car by emergency room personnel at Mary Immaculate Hospital in Newport News.

Officials say Graham received a phone call from her friend around 1am on September 12 asking her to bring cigarettes.

Her friend couldn't buy them herself because she was caring for an elderly person in Newport News at that time.

Graham put the child and dog in the back of the car, went to a 7-Eleven to get the cigarettes and spent some ‘considerable' time at her friend's place.

She then drove back to York County at 8am and left the baby and dog in the car with the windows rolled up. At around 2.30pm, Graham ‘woke up' when she received a phone call and went out to check on the dog and baby.

Both the baby and dog were dead by that point.

Police officials have not revealed the name of the 17-year-old mother and information about the dog.
