MUNCIE, Ind. — Police say an Eaton couple abandoned three dogs and two cats in a local house “with no heat, power or visible food and water.”
Eaton police said they found the animals when serving a search warrant at a house in the 12600 block of North Chestnut Street on Feb. 6.
In a report, an Eaton officer wrote the animals — removed from the property that day — were “in poor condition, showing signs of severe neglect, including visible bones due to lack of food and water.”
“Indiana Michigan Power confirmed that the property had no power or heat, and weather reports showed that the temperatures had dropped below freezing multiple times during the period the animals were left unattended,” the officer wrote.
