Delhi woman protests Pitbull defecating outside her home, owner sets dog on her

A woman in Delhi was injured in a Pitbull attack on Friday (November 3). The incident that happened in Swaroop Nagar was captured on surveillance cameras and a case has been registered against the owner of the dog.

The woman, identified as Riya Devi, told police that she asked her neighbour – the owner of the dog – to not let the animal defecate in front of her house. However, the owner allegedly released the dog on the woman, who was bitten several times.

The CCTV footage shows Devi standing before what looks like the house of the dog's owner, and the Pitbull initially stands calmly beside her. Then, the dog suddenly jumps on her. The owner immediately removes the dog and carries the animal towards the gate, but is then seen releasing it on her. The dog pounces on Devi and bites her several times. The owner, a male, is also seen pushing her to the ground. Devi tries to fight off the dog, and nearby people also rush to her aid. In the end, the owner, with help from his other family members, succeeds in freeing the woman from his pet and carries the animal inside.

Devi's injuries included bites on her hands, legs, and face. She was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The police have registered a case against the neighbour under Section 289 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), which deals with negligent conduct with respect to animals. The neighbour has been released on bail.

Devi alleged that the neighbour allowed his dog to defecate outside her house every day. She said that she had objected to it in the past as well, but the neighbour paid no need to it.

The police are probing the allegations against the neighbour.
