When she was discovered on the streets, she was brought to Argentina’s El Arca Animal Partido de Mar Chiquita. Volunteers were instantly drawn to her. Silvia Ferreyra, a volunteer in particular, caught everyone’s attention. But despite her pleasant demeanor, she was continually passed over by adopters due to her age.

She appeared to have a hopeless situation. Pakita was confined in her kennel every day. He became sad, withdrawn, and in many ways, shattered. She lost a lot of weight since she wouldn’t eat much. The volunteers at El Arca were deeply concerned.

For two long years, the volunteers tried everything they could to find Pakita a home but nothing worked. They ultimately decided to utilize social media to their advantage and publish a photo of her with her bio on Facebook. But it was no simple task. Pakita would tremble and slink away in the corner refusing to take a photograph.

Then a miracle happened!

“Immediately, we get a message from a woman saying that the dog was her son’s and that he had been looking for her!” Ferreyra told The Dodo.

Ariel Naveira was certain that Pakita was coming back to him. After all this time, Ariel had to accept the fact that Pakita would never return home. But then his mother called him after seeing the Facebook post. He couldn’t believe it was her. But he went to the shelter the next day just in case. The volunteers came out with Pakita and showed her to Ariel, and he recognized immediately that she was hers, but Pakita wasn’t so sure. You can see in the video that she looks hesitant, uneasy as she sniffs around and around, but eventually realizes it’s her.

She dropped to the floor in joy, wagging her tail as she awaits for her favorite person in the world to give her proper belly rubs. It may have been two years, but she recognized that fragrance, face, and touch instantly. He finally arrived after all of that waiting! It’s a dream come true!
