The trend of togging pets in festive wear is just catching on in India.
It was the photo that did the trick. When Mumbai-based Christina Kapoor saw a Boxer kitted out in a traditional pink and red Nauvari (the Maharashtrian nine-yard saree) on Instagram, she decided to get a similar outfit customized for Priyanka — her 11-year-old Persian cat —for Ganapati celebrations.
Kapoor had a pink and gold saree planned for the occasion, so she got a matching one made by Kitty and the Woof Gang, a Delhi-based pet products company. “The pre-stitched saree was an easy velcro ensemble which strapped right on. She sat next to Ganpati and posed for pictures,” says the 35-year-old development professional, who plans to get a lehenga for her this Diwali.
