ORLEANS, Vt. (WCAX) – These Pets with Potential are four pups waiting at the Pope Memorial Frontier Animal Shelter in Orleans for their forever homes.
Diva is a 4-year-old dog with a personality as big as her name suggests. But shelter staffers say her sassy facade melts away as soon as she hits the yard, especially if there’s a ball involved. They say she’s been working on her manners and is proud of her progress. She’ll do best as the only pet in the home. She has been at the shelter for almost three years.
Next, meet Minnie. The 4-year-old dog is described by staffers as energetic, athletic and obedient. She’s very food-motivated, which makes training and teaching her new tricks a breeze. She’ll also do best as the only pet in the home.
Nina is a 6-year-old sweetheart who loves affection and spending time with her humans. Staffers say she’s great on a leash and enjoys leisurely walks. She’s OK with kids, but should be the only dog in the household.
Finally, Ruger is a 3-year-old hound described by shelter staff as outgoing, friendly and eager to please. He loves making new friends and spending time outside. Like Minnie, he’s very food-motivated and quick to learn new tricks. He will do best in an active home committed to providing him with plenty of exercise and enrichment.
The shelter is hosting an exciting pet-friendly event this weekend to celebrate spring.
Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., you’ll find an egg hunt, photo ops, special treats and Easter activities for kids. All proceeds go directly to the shelter.
