A five-month-old puppy left outside an animal shelter with a note has found a home.

Pennsylvania SPCA in the US revealed they found a pup tied to a pole with a note that said she was a "good puppy" who was "house broken", but didn't have a name.

"When our staff found her, she appeared healthy, but had discharge from her eyes that made her look as if she had been crying," they shared in the original post on Facebook.

The puppy was named Minerva, and the shelter used the message to encourage followers to foster and adopt pets as they searched for her forever family.

But that search only took a day.

Just 24 hours later, the shelter shared a video of newly-named Minerva wagging her tail – a "tentative step" for the young pup, they said.

"Minerva is learning that the world isn't so scary.
And we are here to show her," they wrote alongside the video.

Declaring she had indeed found her new forever home, Pennsylvania SPCA posted an adorable photo on Facebook.
