Dog found stabbed in Bilston searching for forever home

A dog found tied to a lamp-post with stab wounds is searching for a forever home after spending weeks being rehabilitated.

Comet, a Mastiff, was “visibly distressed and exhausted” when found in Bilston, Wolverhampton in December.

RSPCA officer Bal Dhamia said the dog was a “heartbreaking” sight after being discovered “subdued, bleeding and in pain” before he was sent to recover at the Cotswolds Dogs & Cats Home.

The larger-than-life pet who “charms everyone he meets” is now ready to be adopted by a family who will “cherish him”, she said.

The Cotswold Dogs and Cats Home said: “Despite his size, he sees himself as a lapdog and loves showering his humans with kisses.

“Comet will make a fun, loyal and affectionate companion.”

Staff said Comet's journey was one of resilience and hope and despite going through a traumatising ordeal, he had shown love and trust.

“It was clear this poor dog had endured so much and may never have known what it's like to be truly loved and cared for,” Amy, the operations manager said.

The RSPCA said they received reports of a slim, white man tying the dog to the lamp post at about 20:00 GMT on 9 December and was hoping to trace him.

The investigation into what happened to Comet is ongoing.
