A dog was lost in a structure fire in Bayfield, Wisconsin on Monday, January 20, and a family of was displaced according to Chief Jeff Boutin with the Bayfield Fire Department.
The Bayfield Volunteer Fire Department was called to the scene of a two-story structure fire at 7 South Broad St in Bayfield shortly before 3:00 p.m.

Upon arrival, fire and smoke were observed coming from the roof, soffit, and upper windows of the two-story structure,” said Chief Boutin.
“Interior attack attempts were hampered due to the extreme weather conditions.”

The structure contained a tattoo business on the first floor and an apartment on the second.
A family of four lived in the apartment with a pet dog.
No one was home at the time of the fire, but, as previously stated, the pet dog was lost.

The cause of the fire is currently unknown, but initial investigation indicates that it originated in a void space in the roof or attic.

The Bayfield Volunteer Fire Department was assisted by Red Cliff Fire, Washburn Fire, Ashland Fire, Bayfield EMS, Bayfield Police Department, and the Bayfield Public Works.

Chief Boutin stated the displaced family living on the second floor did not have insurance and that a GoFundMe has been set up.
