A vicious dog attack has led to a lawsuit in Harris County, Texas. On June 26, 2024, Patrice Willis filed a complaint against Kianna Plummer in the District Court of Harris County, Texas, alleging severe injuries resulting from an incident involving Plummer's dogs.
According to the complaint, on July 31, 2022, Willis was visiting Plummer's residence at 13119 Candlewood Glen Lane in Houston when she and her dogs were attacked by Plummer's pets. The plaintiff claims that while attempting to save her own dog from the assault, she was violently attacked by both of the defendant’s dogs. This incident resulted in serious injuries for Willis. The complaint states that Plummer’s negligent actions and omissions were the proximate cause of the attack and subsequent injuries.
Willis alleges that Plummer breached her duty of care by failing to restrain her dogs properly. “Defendant Kianna Plummer breached their duty by failing to restrain their dogs in a manner that would prevent them from escaping and injuring Plaintiff and her dogs,” reads the petition. The lawsuit also includes claims of negligent handling of an animal and strict liability for keeping dangerous domesticated animals. Willis asserts that Plummer knew or should have known about the dangerous propensities of her pets before the attack occurred.
The plaintiff is seeking monetary compensation for various damages including past and future physical pain and suffering, mental anguish, medical expenses incurred and anticipated in the future, loss of earnings and earning capacity, disfigurement, and physical impairment. Additionally, Willis is requesting pre-judgment and post-judgment interest as per Texas Finance Code § 304.001 et seq., along with court costs.
Representing Patrice Willis are attorneys Rusty Harrison (Texas Bar No. 24012793) and Taylor Gamboa (Texas Bar No. 24130782) from White & Associates P.C., located at 3120 Southwest Freeway, Suite 350 in Houston. The case is presided over by Judge Jarod Stirup under Case ID: 2024-40607.
