Dog owners slammed over Kakadu National Park act
A photo of two dog owners who took their pet with them while they went for a walk at a popular national park has sparked outraged among Australians.
The two women took their Pomeranian along when they went for a stroll in the Kakadu National Park, 151 kilometres south of Darwin, in the Northern Territory.
A picture of the pair with their pet pooch was later posted on Reddit where social media users were left outraged claiming dogs weren't allowed in national parks.
In the photo, the two women are seen dressed a pair of shorts and sleeveless tops, and chatting to one another inside the park grounds.

One woman, who is carrying a backpack, is seen carrying the pooch in her left hand.
The user who shared the picture online, blasted the pair's careless act, and brutally reminded them about the rules against taking dogs inside national parks.
‘Why do people think they’re above the law and can bring their dogs wherever they go,' the user wrote
‘S**t like this pisses me off. National parks have these rules for a reason'.
‘Leave your dog at home'.
A Parks Australia spokesperson told Daily Mail Australia those who take their dogs inside the park, will be slapped with fines up to hundreds of dollars.
‘Under the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation (EPBC) Act, visitors are not permitted to bring dogs into Kakadu National Park,' the spokesperson said.
‘Guide dogs, hearing dogs and assistance dogs may be brought into the national park but must be kept on a leash'.
‘The EPBC Act allows for a range of penalties for bringing dogs into the national park, including infringement notices of $626'.
Dogs are not allowed into national parks considered commonwealth land, under the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act
Users were quick to comment on the post, with some agreeing with the frustrated user, who complained about the visitors.
‘Yup it grinds my gears! Saw a couple of grey-haired Nomads with their off-leash dog in the water at Douglas Hot Springs a few years ago. No care factor even though signs everywhere saying no dogs,' one wrote.
‘It's not hard, there is signs everywhere saying no dogs in national parks,' another said.
Others however, came to the defence of the two women, and pointed out that not everyone is across the rules.
‘In fairness I’d zero clue about the laws around national parks v normal parks until my partner mentioned [sic],' one user wrote.
‘If I’d been away on a trip somewhere with my dog I could have easily brought my dog to a place it shouldn’t be'.
