BLESSING OF THE PETS: The Mosquito Lake Dog Park will host a blessing of the pets 2 p.m. Friday. The blessing will be conducted by Christine Orr of Shepherd of the Valley.
OPEN HOUSE: The Moss Ancestral Home, 1499 Burnett St., Mineral Ridge, will have an open house and train display 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday. The train display will resemble the Mineral Ridge area during its coal mining days. The Mineral Ridge Historical Society, 1476 Burnett St., will be open 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday.
SPARTAN CHALLENGE: The McDonald village summer recreation program will conclude with the Spartan Challenge noon Friday at Woodland Park. Registration for children up to age 13 will be 11:15 to 11:30 a.m. Those attending are asked to wear athletic clothes and bring a water bottle. There will be an awards ceremony
BACK TO SCHOOL BASH: Children and families are invited to enjoy a backpack and school supply giveaway, games, crafts and refreshments at 10 a.m. Saturday on the grounds of the National McKinley Birthplace Memorial in Niles. The giveaway will take place until supplies are gone and is sponsored by Shepherd’s House Ministries.
