FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) — A family of four was displaced from their Fayetteville home after fire from unattended cooking spread through the house causing $70,000 in damage Sunday afternoon, officials said.
The fire was reported at 5:30 p.m. in western Fayetteville at 6905 Pine Creek Court in the Bone Creek neighborhood off Cliffdale Road, according to a news release from the Fayetteville Fire Department.
One of the family’s three dogs had to be rescued from the home — and all the pets were also displaced.
When crews arrived at the scene, heavy smoke was coming from the house and a working fire was declared, officials said.
Additional crews responded and firefighters then made an “interior attack” and quickly brought the fire under control, the news release said.
