COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) – A dog was rescued from a hot car, according to the Colorado Springs Fire Department (CSFD).
CSFD posted to social media on Tuesday explaining the rescue operation took place on July 17 after they received a call to assist Animal Law Enforcement (ALE). Officials believe a dog was left in a hot car for nearly two hours.
“E23 personnel were able to get into the car to get the pup out,” CSFD wrote on social media. “Our ALE partners at Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region took the pup into their care to quickly get it the medical attention it needed. The dog was heavily panting, very hot, and showed signs of heatstroke. The owner was eventually cited. Huge shoutout to our ALE officers for ensuring this pup was taken care of.”
The social media post added it was 82 degrees on July 17, and they believe the temperature inside the car may have gotten as hot as about 130 degrees.
“Never leave pets or kids in the car,” CSFD added in the social media post.
