A man in Memphis, Tennessee, was accidentally shot by his dog after the pet triggered a loaded gun while jumping on the bed, police said Wednesday.
The victim, who was sleeping next to his partner, sustained a graze on his left thigh and was treated at a hospital. According to the police report, the one-year-old pit bull, Oreo, got its paw stuck in the trigger guard, causing the firearm to discharge. Authorities classified the case as an “accidental injury.”
Similar incidents have occurred in the past, including a 2022 case in Kansas where a dog stepped on a hunting rifle, fatally shooting its owner.
