MARIETTA, Ohio (WTAP) – The River City Farmers Market held a Doggie Days contest at the market!
Dogs were able to show up in costumes and win a prize for best dressed!
They also played tug-of-war and showed off their best tricks.
Dogs are always welcome to the market walking with their owners, but this was a special day for them!
The Humane Society of the Ohio Valley also set up and brought one of its adoptable dogs, Robert.
“People really feel connected to their animals, to their pets and they are great companions and so we don’t want to forget about what those companion animals do for us humans and our society. Overall it is important for those dogs, to recognize our customers that have dogs that come down. You’ll see dozens of them today.” said Marcus McCartney, OSU Educator/ River City Farmers Market Board Member.
They hope to continue this event for the next 10 to 13 years.
