Doogie Do’s Dog Parlor in Three Rivers has relocated to 206 W. Martin and more help is on the way to help with grooming needs. Angie Ponce is the owner of the business and has leased out space to Alexis Moya, who will be handling the heavy demand for dog grooming. Ponce is also the owner of a new business, Suite Tails Bed & Biscuit, a boarding facility.
Doggie Do’s opened for business in Nov. 2011, and throughout the years, Ponce has groomed over a thousand dogs. Becoming executive director of the Three Rivers Chamber of Commerce necessitated a need to get more help.
Alexis Moya begins her full-time position at Doggie Do’s this month. She is a certified dog groomer of three years, having graduated from Animal Behavioral College in 2021. “Animals have always had a special place in my heart. The love and compassion I have for dogs inspired me to pursue a career in dog grooming.”
Moya’s priority is giving pets a comfortable and positive experience while using high quality tools and products. “I love helping animals feel better with a groom and having them look their best with a quality haircut. Appointments can be made by calling or texting her at 361-318-6448.
Prices for grooming range from $35 to $110 depending on the weight of the dog and the services. The full spa experience includes haircut, shampoo with conditioner, blow dry, trimming/ buffing of nails, and cleaning of ears. No dog has ever complained about that experience!
Suite Tails include daily and overnight services. “While you’re away, your dog can play! The daily services include outdoor play time, cuddles, love and tummy rubs.” Ponce explains that there was a real need for boarding in Three Rivers. She can board two large and four small dogs at one time.
In January 2022, Doggie Do’s was selected as the business of the month and business really picked up. Ponce worked with Celia Garza and the Small Business Development Center Network to build a business plan and apply for grant funding. The $10,000 grant she received helped to remodel the new building, buy additional kennels, and purchase equipment and supplies.
Not only does Ponce serve Three Rivers through the chamber of commerce, but she is also a generous business owner who contributes to fundraisers, silent auctions and benefits.
Doggie Do’s is open Tuesday-Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Ponce’s phone number is 361-449-6455.
