Dogs Trust Evesham to host event for grieving dog owners

Dogs Trust Evesham is inviting dog lovers to the Rainbow Bridge Café on Wednesday, April 23, at 10.30am.

The event aims to provide a welcoming and supportive space for those who have lost their beloved dogs.

A recent survey by the charity revealed that one in 10 people who have lost a dog felt they had no one to talk to about their grief for fear of being judged or embarrassed.

The event will offer a chance for people to connect with fellow dog owners who have faced similar loss, share stories in a safe space, and commemorate their past four-legged friends.

The event will begin with a guided tour of the facilities, followed by refreshments.

Attendees are encouraged to bring their favourite photos and memories to celebrate the joy and love their dogs brought into their lives.

Callum Stackhouse, supporter relations officer at the charity, said: “Around half of those who have lost a dog experience barriers in opening up about their feelings following the death.

“The Rainbow Bridge Café has been set up to offer a supportive and comforting place to share memories and celebrate the lasting impact of dogs who have passed away.

“It's important to talk and connect with others who understand the bond between people and their dogs.”

The café is located at Dogs Trust Evesham, 89 Pitchers Hill, WR11 7RT.

There is limited car parking available.

The charity asks that attendees do not bring their own dogs to the event for the comfort of the rescue dogs at the centre.
