I don’t know exactly what this pet fashion show will be like, but I’ll tune in for Dolly Parton.
In 2022, the country icon launched her line of apparel, accessories and toys for pets in partnership with SportPet Designs called “Doggy Parton.”
The line featured dog clothing inspired by Dolly’s own incredible wardrobe, and honestly, I wish she’d made the same stuff for humans, but I digress…
According to Variety, Dolly is now partnering with CBS to air a TV special called Dolly Parton’s Pet Gala, which will feature a dog fashion show with pups wearing recreations of Parton’s most iconic ensembles (I’m guessing the release of her 2023 book Behind The Seams: My Life In Rhinestones might’ve inspired this idea some too).
If anyone else on this earth came up with an idea like this, I would probably laugh out loud, but if Dolly is involved I know it will be worth my while and entertaining at the very least. The woman is a marketing genius as much as she is a pop culture and country icon, and I respect the hell outta that.
Jane Lynch will co-host with Dolly, and Kelly Osbourne and Rachel Smith will serve as runway correspondents (seriously). Drew Barrymore, Kristen Bell, Kristin Chenoweth, Margaret Cho, Neil Patrick Harris, Carson Kressley, Jim Nantz, Jessica Simpson and more will also appear as guests.
In addition, Dolly will be performing hits like “9 to 5,” “I Will Always Love You,” “Puppy Love” and “Jolene,” along with artists like Lainey Wilson, Carly Pearce, Chris Janson and KC of KC of the Sunshine Band taking the stage as well.
Dolly says she’s very excited to co-host this pet gala:
“I have hosted or co-hosted many shows throughout my career, but I have never been more excited about co-hosting a show than I am about being part of this pet gala! I love animals.
I’ve got all kinds, and of course, I’ve always had little dogs around, and big ones! We’re going to have some of all kinds and colors on the show, and there is nothing more fun to me than when little animals do what they do best, and I’m looking forward to it!
There is so much fun stuff, and I know all the animal lovers out there are going to love this show.”
The two-hour special is slated for February 21st at 9 p.m. ET/PT, and will air on CBS and stream on Paramount+.
There is nothing this woman can’t do, and her reign as the queen of everything continues…
Dolly previously stated that her song “Puppy Love” helped inspire the “Doggy Parton” brand, which was her very first single which she recorded at the age of 13, and would later sing during her first appearance at the Grand Ole Opry when she first met Johnny Cash.
