EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) – Several shelters and rescue organizations across Indiana are coming together to designate November as “Hoosier Adopt a Shelter Pet Month.”
It’s part of a partnership between Governor Eric Holcomb and the Indiana Coalition of Animal Welfare Professionals.
There are four local organizations taking part.
From Friday, November 8 through Saturday, November 16, the Vanderburgh Humane Society and River Kitty Cat Cafe will be offering $50 adoptions on all dogs, cats, kittens, and rabbits.
On Saturday, foster rescue group “Paaws” will be offering half-off adoptions at the Evansville PetSmart.
All adopters will also get a free day of doggie daycare.
From November 12 through 16, It Takes a Village will be offering a “Spin the Wheel” adoption discounts on all pets over one year old.
Finally, all adopters with Evansville Animal Care and Control will be entered to win a prize basket.
Also a heads up, VHS leaders say they currently have some sick cats in the building.
Because of this, all cat adoptions will be suspended for the next two weeks to get everyone healthy.
Officials say cats in foster care are still available.
They also say adoptions will continue at River Kitty Cat Cafe.
