MENOMONIE (WQOW) – On Saturday, hundreds of pets got microchipped for a low price of $11.
The Dunn County Humane Society hosted this annual event for a cheap and easy way to put a microchip in a pet. Over 100 dogs and cats got their microchip put in.
“The process to insert the microchip is super quick, it’s virtually painless, and it’s ultimately the simplest and most effective way to guarantee that your pets will have your information with them at all times,” said shelter manager Harvey Weidman.
A microchip is about the size of a grain of rice, and if your animal gets lost, the first thing that veterinarian clinics or shelters do when they find an animal is look for a microchip.
Most humane associations and vet clinics can put a microchip in a pet, and it usually costs between $35 and $65.
