EAU CLAIRE (WQOW) – A surprising discovery at the Eau Claire Community Humane Association earlier this week led to eight new guests at the shelter.
On Tuesday, an Eau Claire animal control officer was dropping off a stray at the shelter, when they realized the donation box outside had eight cats inside. Now, those cats are being cared for inside the shelter and are safe.
However marketing and development coordinator, Addie Erdmann, said it's important to call first if surrendering a pet. While they do have a fee and a waitlist, they are flexible as caring for animals is the priority.
“Luckily these cats seem to be doing really well with one another, they're really sweet, they're really social but sometimes we get some stray or abandoned animals in and we just don't know anything about them, we don't know any of their behaviors, their likes, their dislikes, if they have dietary needs or medical issues that could arise,” Erdmann said.
The eight cats are now named after Snow White and the Seven Dwarves, since they will all receive a fairytale ending. Erdmann said the cats should be available for adoption early next week.
