PHOENIX (AZFamily) — A man is hospitalized after he was rescued from a house fire in north Phoenix late Friday morning.

The fire broke out just after 11 a.m. at a home on Pershing Avenue, which is near 35th Avenue between Cactus and Thunderbird roads.

Fire crews from Phoenix and Glendale arrived to find smoke and flames coming from inside the house. Some firefighters began attacking the blaze while others made their way inside to search the residence.

Crews quickly found an elderly man unconscious in a back bedroom and got him out of the home. He was taken to a hospital, where fire officials say he is in stable condition.

Phoenix Fire Capt. Todd Keller also says two cats and two dogs were rescued.

Video from the scene shows extensive damage to the roof and solar panels.

Three people will be displaced, and no firefighters were injured. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
