TUCSON, Ariz. (KVOA) — Adoptable dogs will take center stage at Pima Animal Care Center’s “Bark in the Barrio” dog adoption event from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 9, at Armory Park, 220 S. Fifth Ave.
PACC will be loading up the PACCmobile — its mobile adoption unit — with adoptable dogs from the shelter as well as dogs currently in foster homes. In addition, several local dog rescues will bring available dogs, including:
- Saving Animals from Euthanasia
- Southwest Oasis Labrador Rescue
- Valley Humane Society
- Lucy’s Hope Sanctuary and Rescue
- The Animal League of Green Valley and
- Tucson Central Nursery Animal Rescue
Pima Animal Care Center is a critical capacity.
There also will be food, games, local vendors and music.
PACC currently has more than 490 dogs in the shelter, putting the facility above critical capacity. Shelter leadership staff hope that by hosting this community event, some of those dogs will find homes, creating kennel space for the 30-40 new dogs who come to PACC every day.
All PACC dogs and puppies will be free to adopt during the event. A $20 licensing fee applies to adult dogs. All pets adopted from PACC are spayed or neutered, given age-appropriate vaccinations, and microchipped.
Local radio stations 97.5 The Vibe and KHIT 107.5 will be at the event playing tunes and hosting giveaways.
Bark in the Barrio will be held within walking distance of this weekend’s Fourth Avenue Winter Street Fair, making it a great opportunity for those already downtown to enjoy the festivities and weather.
If interested in adopting or fostering a PACC pet sooner, PACC is open at 4000 N. Silverbell Road on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from noon to 7 p.m., on Wednesday from 1:30 to 7 p.m., and on weekends from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. To learn more about PACC pets and services, click here.
