Everyone is saying the same thing as neighbour posts ‘seriously unusual’ note about dog | UK | News

A dog owner has shared a remarkably polite note which highlights a hole in their fence. The letter was left to them by their neighbour and is so well-mannered, the individual is querying whether or not it's “aggressive”.

The post, shared by a user with the name ‘neighborsfromhell', asked other Reddit users their opinions – and it received mixed reactions.

It says: “I hope this note finds you well. It seems that a peg in your fence is broken, which could soon allow your beautiful German Shepard to escape through the fence.

“When I walk by, either alone or with my dog, the dog barks and lunges through the gate hole enthusiastically. I worry that they might eventually escape and rush out, which could be dangerous for both of us.

“I'm concerned for your dog's safety and my own. I don’t want your dear dog to become lost or injured in traffic, and I also want to feel safe while walking around.

“If you'd like to fix the fence, I'd be happy to help. Please feel free to text me at XXX-XXX-XXXX, and I can come by to assist.

“I just wanted to make you aware in case you don’t often see the fence. From the street looking at your house, the fence break is on the right-hand side. It’s the vertical post that has become unsecured, creating a hole appearing larger than your dog’s width.

“I hope this doesn’t come across as judgmental or meddling. I simply want to help the safety of everyone, including your cherished pet. Again, I am happy to assist with the mending. Good day.”

Some commenters said the note was “unusual” while others though it was polite and gracious. One person said: “That neighbor is from heaven, not hell. That's a very polite and gracious note.”

Another said: “I think going on about the dogs safety and everyone’s else’s is phrased oddly? ‘Your dear dog' and some other phrases make it sound oddly threatening.

“No need to specify what you think might happen to the dog, because if it does, you will be number one suspect and they will more than likely think you did it on purpose.”
