The Traitors Producer Explained What Made Dan Gheesling Such A Horrible Traitor
Big Brother legend Dan Gheesling's horrible tenure as a traitor was explained by The Traitors' producer.
While it is informative to learn when Alan adopted Lala, that isn't the most interesting part of how they came together.
In April 2023, theYouTube channel for Masterpiece PBS uploaded a video about Alan's pets. During that video, Alan explained that Lala became a rescue dog when she was pregnant and living on the streets in Costa Rica.
“Lala was a street dog in Costa Rica, and she got pregnant. And then as quite often happens, you know, a vet took her in, and, she had her puppies.”
Given how famous Lala has become now, it is amazing to learn what happened after she had her puppies.
The tragic truth is that older dogs often go unadopted, because many people are more interested in getting puppies.
During the Masterpiece PBS YouTube video about Alan Cumming's pets, The Traitors host spoke about Lala the dog's age. As Alan explained in the video, he and Grant don't know how old Lala is because they have no idea what her age was when they adopted her.
During the aforementioned YouTube video, Alan revealed that nobody wanted Lala the dog before he and Grant adopted the animal.
All her puppies were adopted and nobody wanted Lala.
Alan went on to state in the video that he didn't understand how Lala went unadopted until he and Grant found her. “I can't believe that. She's the most cute dog in the world.”

The Traitors Fans Accused The Show Of Cheating To Protect Peter Weber
The Traitors fans have a pretty good reason to suspect that the show's producers rigged things to protect Peter Weber.
Knowing that Lala once was a pregnant dog living in the streets, knowing that she is now a TV staple is amazing. However, there is an even more mind-blowing fact about how Lala's life changed after Alan adopted the animal.
A January 2025 NBC article about Lala the dog revealed what Alan Cumming once said about having dogs. That article revealed that during an appearance on the “Be In the Moment” podcast, Alan spoke about why he thinks dogs improve people's lives. “I definitely feel dogs help you be more attuned to and in touch with your emotions because they go through such extreme things every day.”
During the same Masterpiece PBS video, Alan revealed that Lala almost instantly wound up in the media after he and Grant adopted the dog.
“What was hilarious was that within 48 hours of her being with us, she was mentioned in Page Six and the gossip column in the New York Post.”
One of the most interesting facts that Alan has revealed about Lala the dog is about her many nicknames, which he listed during the Masterpiece PBS video.
“[Lala's] nicknames are The La, Lulu, Lala Lu, Catfish, because she has one white whisker now, so I call her catfish.”
Alan also revealed during the video that Lala doesn't care about dog toys, which he thinks is because she grew up in the streets. It also has to be noted that Lala has her own Instagram account which features many photos of her with Alan.
Who Is Alan Cumming's Other Dog, Jerry?
Many fans of The Traitors may believe that Alan Cumming has one dog, Lala. However, the reality is that Alan and his husband, Grant Shaffer, have another dog named Jerry.

The Traitors Needs To Cast These Legendary Reality TV Villains
Casting these classic reality show villains would make future The Traitors seasons feel more chaotic and fun.
During the same Masterpiece PBS video, Alan spoke about his dog Jerry. Most notably, Alan revealed that he and Grant saved Jerry from a shelter the dog otherwise would have died in. At the same time, Alan revealed what kind of dog Jerry is.
“Jerry is a rat terrier and chihuahua combo. When we got him, the lady said he was from Tennessee, from a kill shelter in Tennessee. So he's a Southern gentleman.”
Similar to Lala, Jerry has several nicknames as Alan explained in the same video.
“His nicknames, he has many nicknames. So he's named Jerry, [and] I'll just call him Jeremy, Jasmine, Jeremiah Crawfish Paya.”
Arguably, the most important fact about Lala and Jerry seems to be that in the Masterpiece PBS video, it seems like Alan lights up while talking about his beloved dogs.
