Coimbatore: A 60-year-old man was booked on Saturday after his pet dog bit a woman near Gandhipuram in the city on August 14.
The Rathinapuri police said the dog belonged to Issac Babu, 60, a civil draftsman from Dr Rajendra Prasad Road near Gandhipuram. Around 4pm on Wednesday, when he took his dog for a walk on the street, it suddenly bit Sindhu, 35, of RV Nagar at Periyanaickenpalayam who was walking to the bus stand after visiting her mother.She suffered severe injuries to her right hand and was rushed to a private hospital for first aid. She was later administered vaccines for dog bite at a hospital in Coonoor in Nilgiris district.
Meanwhile, a photograph of the woman with injuries from the dog bite went viral on social media. Sindhu also registered a case with Rathinapuri police inspector Ibrahim Badhusha.
Issac was subsequently booked under sections 118 (i), 125 (a) and 291 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) Act. Further investigation is on.
