Bexar County, TX – A family is holding out hope for the safe return of their dog after a fire destroyed their home in late December.
The fire, which broke out on Progress Road near U.S. Highway 281 in far south Bexar County on Dec. 28, engulfed three homes on the family’s property and left little behind.
“I lost everything. I lost my family’s memories, my memories — all gone within a flick of a flame,” owner Brieanna Schroth said.
As investigators continue to determine the cause of the fire, Schroth said her focus has been finding her dog, Marley.
“It’s freezing outside, and I don’t want him to be in this kind of wet weather,” she said, urging neighbors near the Mogford Road area off U.S. Highway 281 South to keep an eye out for him.
Marley is a medium-built boxer who wears a blue colored collar. Schroth is also missing her bearded pet dragon and has not been able to find all of the cats that would usually hang around her property.
“This was my home,” she said. “It’s devastating. We’re just waiting for (sic) investigation to be over with.”
Schroth is currently fundraising to help rebuild her property.
