DOUGLAS COUNTY, Colo. (KKTV) – South Metro Fire Rescue said a family and several pets were displaced after a house fire in Douglas County on Tuesday.
Crews said South Metro Fire Rescue, Douglas County Sheriff’s Department, Castle Rock Fire and Franktown Fire all responded to the home, around 12:35 a.m. on Cantrell Court.
Crews said the fire spread throughout the home, causing significant damage. They said 60 firefighters were on scene, and the fire was under control by 1:21 p.m.
Crews said one person was taken to a hospital due to injuries, and one of the family’s dogs could not be rescued and died in the fire.
According to firefighters, four people, two dogs, a tortoise, a cat, an iguana and a python were displaced.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
