PRINCETON, Ill.
(KWQC) - A family’s three pets died as a result of a house fire in Princeton.
The family was not home at the time of the fire.

Crews said they began to extinguish the fire from the outside and then made their way inside.

The house sustained significant damage to the first floor and major damage to the second floor with smoke and water damage throughout, officials said.

The Princeton Fire Department had nine departments at the scene including: Bureau, Depue, Ladd, Malden, Manlius, Sheffield, Spring Valley, Walnut, Wyanet, along with Mendota Fire providing an engine and Dixon City Fire providing an ambulance at Princeton’s station while crews were busy, officials said.

No injuries were reported to fire personnel, but due to extreme heat, some needed on site medical assistance, officials said.
