People inside the home were assisted by neighbors before fire crews arrived.
When arriving on the scene, crews began searches on both floors before switching to exterior operations due to the significant fire extension in the attic and part of the top floor being compromised due to the fire underneath.
A second alarm was transmitted for additional crews.
Fire crews said they worked on fire extinguishment using the first truck for roof operations and for master stream operations before going back inside.
North Myrtle Beach Fire Rescue said the fire was challenging due to the fire spreading quickly and limited access due to part of the upper floor level being collapsed.
The fire was under control and crews began clearing out after midnight.
People inside the home were taken to the ER for a full evaluation after medics evaluated them on the scene.
The family's pet dog was rescued from the second floor unharmed.
