ST. LAWRENCE BOROUGH, Pa. – Exeter Township firefighters rushed to rescue a dog after a house fire this morning.
It happened on the 3900 block of Penns Drive in Saint Lawrence. Flames could be seen coming from the second floor of the home.
Officials say one dog was found trapped in a crate. Two other dogs escaped the fire unharmed.
Officials say having a notice on your home can help first responders know to look for pets in an emergency.
“We will pay attention to if you have a sign on the front of your house that says, you know, ‘I have pets in here,'” said Rebecca Kantner, Lower Alsace paramedic. “We would pay attention to that, which we didn't have for this situation, but the neighbors knew what animals lived inside the residence.”
The dog, whose name is Snickers, will spend the night at an emergency vet but is expected to be OK.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
