FirstBank recently hosted an election in its Roaring Fork Valley branches when it invited customers and passerby to vote for their favorite charities. Participants could simply jot their favorite charities on Post-It notes and stick them on whiteboard murals available in each valley branch. Spokesperson Mallory Kaufman said charities for animals were the most popular.
As a result, FirstBank is sponsoring a pet adoption that ran from Wednesday through today Saturday, Sept. 30 at Colorado Animal Rescue (C.A.R.E.) in Glenwood Springs from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. FirstBank will pay all adoption fees at C.A.R.E. For more information, call C.A.R.E 970-947-9173 or visit the organization’s website online at coloradoanimalrescue.org.
The site has photos and mini-bios of dogs, cats, kittens, and a furry ball-shaped animal named Carmelo — all awaiting for their human friends to bring them home.
C.A.R.E. asks that you click on this link coloradoanimalrescue.org/pet-adoption-survey-3/ and complete an easy survey prior to adopting.
Last year’s charitable winners were also animal-friendly. FirstBank donated $250 each to those that got the most votes:  Endless Pawsibilities Services Dogs, Smiling Goat Ranch, Lucky Day Animal Rescue of Colorado, and C.A.R.E.Â
The bank is offering free treats to humans on Tuesday, Oct. 10, in partnership with Roaring Fork Transit Authority when it gives away free scoops of ice cream and sorbet to commuters at RFTA’s Basalt Park & Ride stop from 5-7 p.m.
Eight FirstBank staffers also volunteered to help harvest vegetables at Two Roots Farm in Basalt then delievered the produce to valley food pantries.
