PALM COAST, Fla. (CBS12) — A deputy in central Florida rescued a dog on the verge of drowning on Saturday afternoon.
The Flagler County Sheriff's Office (FCSO) said on October 26, deputies in Palm Coast received reports of a dog in distress, struggling to stay afloat in a canal.
When deputies arrived, they met with a woman in a kayak who was trying to rescue the dog. However, the woman was unsuccessful in her attempt to rescue the pooch in peril.
That's when Deputy Alex Wolfe stepped in.
Body cam footage from another deputy shows Wolfe being pushed out into the water and paddling over to the dog before he decided to jump into the water after the dog. The dog's whines can be heard throughout the video.

Finally, Wolfe was able to get the tired dog back to shore. While back on solid ground, the dog received several pets from deputies.
The sheriff's office said the dog was turned over to Animal Control and later reunited with its owner.
