Food drive for people and pets held in Buda, Texas

More than 1,500 pets were helped during four events held in 2024.

AUSTIN, Texas — On Saturday, the Central Texas Food Bank and Hays County Pet Resource Center (Hays PRC) held their first drive-up food distribution event for people and pets at McCormick High School in Buda.

Hays County residents stopped by to get food for themselves and their pets during the event, which was the fifth the groups have hosted and the first of four that will take place this year.

In 2024, the four events the two groups held together served over 1,500 pets in need of food assistance. Pet food for cats and dogs was provided Saturday, in addition to normal food distribution.

The groups are planning to hold three more distribution events this year in June, September and December.
