Foothills Animal Rescue (FAR) is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, marking three decades of dedication to rescuing and rehoming animals across Arizona. The milestone will be commemorated with a gala event, bringing together supporters to reflect on the organization’s impact and raise funds for its continued efforts.
The gala takes place on Friday, March 21, from 5 to 10 p.m. at The Clayton House in Scottsdale. The celebration will feature an open bar, dinner, live and silent auctions, and entertainment. The event is an opportunity to recognize the organization’s growth and the thousands of lives it has saved, according to FAR.
Foothills Animal Rescue began in 1995 as a foster-based rescue founded by a small group of concerned citizens. Since then, it has evolved into a key player in Arizona’s animal welfare community. The nonprofit estimates it has facilitated the adoption of more than 13,000 animals.
Currently operating out of a small shelter with eight dog runs and five community cat rooms, FAR also partners with a Petco location in Phoenix to house and adopt out cats. In 2024, the organization found homes for 681 animals, and it hopes to surpass 800 adoptions this year.
As part of its anniversary celebration, FAR is unveiling a refreshed brand and a new website. According to the organization, its success would not be possible without the support of the Carefree, Cave Creek, and Scottsdale communities.
Foothills Animal Rescue is a private nonprofit with a live release rate of 99%. It takes in animals from partner shelters and pet owners who can no longer care for their pets. Each animal receives medical treatment, behavioral enrichment, and preparation for adoption, with no cost spared to ensure a successful transition into a new home.
